First Nations Health Authority British Columbia | Northern Caucus

Spring 2022 Spring Resolutions

Abstract: Resolution - Northern Partnership Accord (NPA). The Northern Partnership Accord (NPA) is a negotiated document that outlines the partnership relationship between Northern Health (NH) and First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) so that together we can improve the health outcomes of the populations we jointly serve. While the two health authorities have agreed on the accord, we are seeking the endorsement of the elected leadership of the First Nations communities in the northern region to move forward.

Abstract: FNHC Action. The Northern Regional Caucus often passes resolutions that request the elected, collective FNHC to use their influence to make high level changes in direct health care or to advocate at senior governments for policy or procedural changes. The action to be taken is outlined in the FNHC Terms of Reference (Appendix B). This resolution requests the FNHC follow their own Terms of Reference, and to respond to outstanding resolutions within 60 days, and going forward to respond within 90 days.

Abstract: Motion – Jordan’s Principle. The service model to administer “Jordan’s Principle” was under the care and control of FNHA for two years until end of fiscal 2019 when it was transitioned back to Indigenous Services Canada (ISC). This motion was first introduced in January 2021 to provide support to have the FNHC advocate Canada to return the service delivery model to FNHA.
